Juvenile goldfinch
Taken today this juvenile was doing something had never seen before it took off from the barbwire fence and then on its way back into land aimed for the grass stem then landed back on the barbwire with the grass stem in its claws and set about bending it over and eating the seeds.

Phillip.

D2x sigma 800 1/90@f8 iso100.

PP in NC442 & CS2 and I cropped of about 25% of the original image.

Nice as ever Phillip - and good observational anecdote too: the ingenuity of passerines never ceases to amaze me.

I think the shot very nice indeed; lovely muted colours and an interesting story too.
