I agree, nice to see the environment in which the bird is living. Great vision.

Hi Folks thanks for your comments. Alan when I looked at the Exif I could not believe that I shot the picture at F4.5 my brains must have been scrambled at the time normally I would shoot at F8 at least.

I like the idea, but I'd have liked the bird to have been in more light rather than in the shade.
Background's clear because it's shot with a wide angle lens and the bird isn't close enough to throw the BG out of focus. Having said that, is the bird actually in sharp focus here John?
Fulmar's seem to be pretty inquisitive birds - did it come in any closer?
Hi John a nice image of one of my favourite seabirds I would be tempted to take a little of the right-hand side and though the bird doesn't look sharp it still seems to fit well within the image.

Hi Folks thanks for your comments. Nick the birds came in very close to the boat and my eyes as well as my brains must be going as I did not notice the bird was not sharp. I have tried to sharpen the bird more. Phillip thanks for the suggestion.

Hi John, a great birdscape with the dark phase Fulmar. 2nd version is better, but the bird is still a bit soft. I'm sure f8 would have taken care of that....
