I think this is Foxtail Barley. I stopped to take a picture of something else and happened to see this shot as I was getting back in the car.

What gorgeous light and nice detail. I think even a shallower debth of field would be much nicer. The grass in the back is distracting. Perhaps even worth going back with a black background cloth? Really has some potential.

I agree. Unfortunately when I went back the next day the county had mowed it down. I'm hopping for another batch.

Really nice lines, here Philip. I agree that isolating the grasses from the background would make them stand out better. Too bad about the mowing. Maybe you can find it growing close by. It looks like this would be a great subject for a macro shot.
