Discovery Park Lighthouse
A shot from last summer from my favorite city park in Seattle, which is a former military base. I took this within the first 4 months of shooting landscapes, but just recently reprocessed it. It is one of my favorites to this day.

D80
Sigma 10-20mm
Cokin .9 GND

Very nice! love the comp! my only nit is the hot spots in the sky, but they don't ruin the photo for me. In fact they actually contribute a certain mood to the scene...

Nicely composed warm scene Darien.

I love it! Very dramatic. Where is this place?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Certainly a nice-lighthouse potrait. I admire the comp and warm atmosphere.

Oh, yeah! that's a good one! Love the mood. The lighthouse looks pretty stark against all the warm color. Really like the trail leading in. Well done.

This is awesome--I remember seeing this on your smugmug page. This is one of your best, IMO. It's really well balanced and has that "painterly" light. Good eye for spotting this comp and great processing.

Thanks Mike. It does have that kind of painterly look to it. I noticed that more and more of my shots seems to have that feel since I switched to the D80. Not sure if it's the way I process, or the camera itself, or a combo of even more factors. I plan on switching to a 5D as soon as I can, and wonder if it will change anything...not that I am wanting change.
