Another dung fly
Weather is not looking too bad for us this weekend so might go out and try a bit of this landscape malarcky. In the meantime here is another macro from Monday. There is endles fun to be had from just walking through good stands of flowering unmbellifers at this time of year and seeing what is about. In this shot, I am actually more intrigued by the tiny irridescent fly on the rhs. I didn't even see it when I took the photograph and it can't be more than 1mm from tip to tail. I suspect that it might be a soldier fly of some sort - anybody know?

I like the image Malcolm but it looks to me like the fly is JUST a tad soft - only slightly, and there's the start of a USM sharpening halo on the wing edges and the thorax hairs.

Try sharpening with the High Pass filter in Overlay or soft light blend mode instead and erase the filter layer with a soft edge eraser so it only covers the fly.

Works for me... only thing is that my eye keep walking to the smaller fly :wavey:
