We've had family in town for the last couple of weeks. I haven't been online or behind the lens much.
I didn't find any appeal in this image initially but, decided to process it long after taking it. I found I liked it after processing but, it could just be because of the effort I put into it.
What I don't like: busy scene, maybe no focal point, water is not so exciting
What I do like: similar angle of midground trees, boulders, colors, speckeled trees
It's titled harmony because of the leaning trees and the incredible harmony in which nature exists...which is exemplified in the Gorge.

After posting this I decided that the final curves layer used to brighten it up may have been over the top. Let me know if you think so and I can post the less bright version.
Thanks

Hi Hans,
Looks just a bit oversaturated--was this a digital capture?
It's a pleasing photo to look at, just the same. I don't think it is too busy. I agree with everything you said that you liked in the photo except the saturation level. The mottled texture of the bark and the way the trees are placed are both excellent.

Thanks Mike. I agree on all points. I hadn't bumped the saturation but, it did seem too much from in-camera settings. Here's a brightness and saturation reduced version.

I like the perspective how the image draws you in. On my computer I did not see any problems with the saturation but thats mine
I'd try this comp in the fall, getting more depth from added colors...

Good thought Rick. I really only have a few months of photography under my belt and I'm a bit jittery with excitement about fall colors having never shot them before. Bend has a few opportunities for fall color but, not many. This shot is one idea but, I'm really hoping to make one or more of Curtis' fall functions to get some more opportunities.
Yes, I like your second post of the scene so much better. It has a much more calming effect even though it has all the same ingredients as before. I can just imagine sitting there enjoying the river. In the first post, I didn't want to stay at all. Made me want to scream and scram! Very nice adjustments that made a real difference IMO.
