The review on the Epson 11880 is an interesting read to see where the Epson technology is going - even though your wife would never let you set this one up in your living room.
Yowza! 64"? That's nice. I'm looking forward to someone or some lab getting one. I have a 4x5 that I've wanted to print reaaaally big for a couple of years now, and 44x55 wouldn't fill the wall. 64x80 would though! Hate to think what it would cost to set this up with those ink cartridges though...
These days I am actually leaning toward Canon for my next large format printer...

That article also discusses the new X880 models (upgrades from the 4800/7800/9800 models). Once Leopard is released this fall, they all will support 16-bit color printing standard. They also come with ethernet standard, new magenta inks, wider color gamut, and more. The Luminous Landscape article is worth reading.

The x880 technology is certainly a step forward, but the 11880 is the only model that doesn't require swapping black ink cartridges!!
If I were considering a new Epson printer, I'd certainly hold off for the next generation.
