Invested in a 10-22mm lens w/ a 77mm filter size...I have a 72mm CPL...will I have any problems using this 72mm CPL w/ a step up ring on the 10-22mm w/ a 77mm filter size???

I believe you will be using a "step-down" ring and not a step-up, since you are slapping a 72mm filter on a 77mm lens?

You will basically be defeating the whole idea of wide angle lens. I doubt you'd be able to shoot anything without serious vignetting problems ...

As mentioned above. You should prolly get a 77mm filter and use step ups for future purchases. If you think you will you not purchase more lenses, you certainly will need a 77mm filter for the 10-22mm lens.

Regardless of whether you need step up or step down, I gave up on the adapter rings because once you put that big filter on that small lens, you can no longer use a lens shade, unless you invest in a shade that screws into the filter ring, and then you're just spending the money you saved by not buying another filter.

Of course the only screw in filter I use is a polarizer. if you use other filters as well, then it might be worth it to buy the special lens shade.
