Wild Jefferson
Taken on the first morning of my trip, I photographed sunrise at a nearby lake, but the color did not happen. I moved down to this lake to explore, the sun came over the hill and illuminated the trees, and the sky materialized out of nowhere. 5 minutes later there was not a cloud in the sky again.

The third image I've seen from this trip ... just simply stunning and it would make a super B&W too. Tristan

Sweet , Zack. A great sky you captured here. Some strong polarized light. I admire the way the clouds and their reflection pull the viewer into the center. I might consider cropping some from the sky so the eye isn't prone to drifting too far from jefferson.

This seems like an amazing wilderness. Was the weather pretty favorable throughout the trip, and was this a solo outing?

Thanks.

Trevor, I did this solo, but my mom met me up there a few days into the trip. The conditions were all over the place, which was great for photography for the most part but frustrating at times. It poured all night the second night of the trip.

Here is a crop that I was working on that is similar to your request. I'm curious which people prefer?

I would like to inquire what you guys typically haul in terms of gear and weight and what pack you use for a trip like that. Most of the information I have received about backpacking has been strictly from a hiker's standpoint; of course it can be quite different when you factor in dedication to photography. I dayhike all the time and prefer to do so due to its accessibility and lightweight nature, but there are plenty of multi-day trips I intend on doing in the near future ( I have only done a few of them thus far).

Shoot, Zach! You shoot good!! What a fantastic trip and this is a wonderful shot. I love it, particularly the cropped one. I like how the rest of the sky and cloud bank are completed in the reflection.

That's a good question Trevor, I think I'll start a post about backpacking, I'm sure we can all learn something from the more experienced backpackers.

Beautiful shot Zach! I like the cloud band in the middle. The reflected clouds are awesome also. Well done. :toast:

This shot is money, Zack. The cropped one is slightly better. Looks like you really made good use of your time out there, hitting different locations and comps. I look forward to seeing more of these!

Outrageous, Zack! This is easily among the best 2 or 3 shots that I've ever seen of Jeff Park -- and I've seen a LOT of them! I favor the first image. I like the way the sky seems to almost wrap above the viewer's head. This photo is just amazing!

Youzers is the first thing that comes to mind. This is a real beauty Zack! It has the feeling of motion and stillness all at once. Love it.

LOVE that cloud formation. If you're gonna crop anything, crop off the bottom, the texture in the upper part of the cloud is money.

I can't add a whole lot more. But you were sure in the right place at the right time. Outstanding image.
