A sales manager that runs a couple of hotels in Banff National Park wants to use some of my fox and ptarmigan images for free postcards for its guests. They just opened up a couple of hotels; Banff Ptarmigan Inn and Fox Hotel and Suites.

Anyone know what to charge in this circumstance. I still need to find out what kind of circulation and which images she wants to use.

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like prime candidate for a barter. A few photos, a few nights' stay in his hotels.

Wish I could offer something specific, but I've got no experience here. You might also want to post over in the NPN photo marketing forum if you haven't already. Springboarding off of Todd's comment, I'd negotiate for several nights each year that they continue to use your images.

Hey Dan, I use a program called "PhotoQuote" to determine my prices. It is a great program which gives you a range of typical prices for jobs, listing the highs, lows and average charged by photographers. If you don't wan to buy the program, you can go to PhotoShelter.com or my section on the site: http://www.photoshelter.com/gallery-show/G0000_zNL625r3aI, choose an image and then select "Buy License" and it will walk you through a series of questions (PhotoQuote driven) to show you how much this image is available for when used for this specific need. This doesn't give you the range as photographers have to determine the final charge for each image, but I think most folks stay pretty close to the average.

I've got a question on a similar vein...
A church has asked if I could provide them with some digital images for use as a slide show that runs on their screen before and after their services. It's a small church without much of a budget, so I proposed that I would provide them with a couple of dozen images in return for a letter showing a dollar amount of my donation to use as a tax right off. They've already been told that they will only have the rights to display the images, can't distribute them, and that I retain all rights. My question is: how much of a donation is this? I was guessing at a few hundred dollars, but don't really know. Anyone have any guidance?
Thanks!
