Many forum denizens here have been to Clear Lake near Silverton. A few days ago I pulled my fat arse up to the ridgeline 700' above the lake for a different sunrise perspective. I PS'd out the little road with the parking lot -- and my truck in that lot -- for aesthetic purposes.
If you look east along this gnarly ridgeline, you see this fabulous unnamed peak. I scrambled along the ridge towards the peak as far as I could (most 1st-class with a little 2nd-class), but was stopped by a huge gash in the ridge that I just couldn't find a way through, or more accurately, a way through without someone along to either help me or call 911.
Looking west along the ridge, you get this fine view of South Lookout Peak, which I had always assumed you could see from the lake. Not really, it's mostly hidden behind those great towers west of the lake.
Way off to the east you can see the Needles and Grenadiers. I have a stitched pano, which I won't post here, that takes in everything from the Trinity Peaks to Eolus.
Count on you to come up with some vastly different compositions, Todd. I really like the first and third one. I'd be all over the second one if the sky had a little more life to it. Still, one hell of an interesting perspective!

I was on this ridge myself several years ago. I remember 2 things about it. One, was you
could sit there and watch the Jeeps tour Ophir Pass, and the other one was, I dropped by
camera, and it bounced off of rocks for a hundred feet back down toward the lake. I still
have it, and it still works.
I like the 1st and 4th, especially the 4th, the others are nice too but the light is a bit harsh.

Cool, Todd! We made it about 2/3rds of the way up the ridge. I spent a lot of time playing with the columbine but it was getting too late to go all the way up. That's a good climb, I'm impressed, especially pre-sunrise!
Great perspectives along the ridgeline. We drove Ophir pass a few days after leaving Clear Lake and I was sure one of the ridges to the south was the north ridge over Clear Lake (without pulling out a map). I love the crags on those ridges.
