A refreshing chage to se one of these guys out of water. My focus is drawn straight to the subject, so the BG really isn't a problem.Super image.

Thanks for the comments everyone, glad people like it. I'll post a link to an improved image soon, been busy processing images from a friends wedding.
Alan, oddly, as a prey species, they seem to have little fear of humans, but they dont like people speaking very loudly. I pretty much shuffled my way to this one, and was on my focus limiter!
Paula, canals are the best place to look, your local wildlife trust should have info on where they are. If you need anymore info, pop on my site and drop me a line.

11 repliesI'm not sure what it is about these little furry creatures but i find Water Voles almost addictive!
superb. absolute cracker. the pose makes him/her look very masterly, like he could take down a mink with one swipe.

Nice one Paul
Mark, i'd prefer there to be no mink about to begin with, but there are few creatures i hate more than mink.
Thanks Andy,
Phil, Thanks, you think cropping it to 3:2? This is a 4:3 crop, from the original...
Yes... just to lose the OOF highlights at the top...
All the best
I just had to log in to comment on this shot, this is just brilliant

It must be hard to capture these guys.
Never seen one of these creatures in my life.
How do you find them?
