From today's journeys...

I was going to ask where this is as well? I like the image and agree a slightly crop to take away the hazy trees in the distant corner would add to it.

Looks like Lower Lewis River Falls to me - though I've never been there with the water levels so low! This is a really novel view, Ned. I didn't realize the extent of the overhang, and it makes for a very different view from the standard cliff-side perspective. I like it! I agree with the crop comment on the ULC, and wondered if you tried a shot that included more at the bottom. Love the colors in the splash pool!

I'd crop the top, but hate chopping off the close trees.. going lower shows the main stream crashing over completely white - I'd include it, but then it would evoke bottom crop comments.. thanks to all for taking the time to let me know what you think! BTW - yes... lower Lewis... middle and upper looked great too.. I'd stay away from Big Creek - the area is pretty much ruined for getting a shot - multiple huge trees downed there including a big one that took out the platform..

Don't crop it! Use it!
I took the liberty of a bit of dodging and color tweaking in PhotoShop. Saves trying to put what I mean into words.

You need to get a rope and tie yourself into the tree way down where I was, Ned. One slip from there and you'd be in the water.

It feels tight and although the falls are really cool and different, I'm not really grabbed by it.

That would be the way to do it! for sure... I was amazed at a couple of potholes on that flow of lave, and how deep they were! I like what you did with it, Merle.. thanks!

nice shot,
i don't worry about blown out water, after all it happens on film if you want to get the rest exposed right. it's one of those things that only photographers care about and really no one else in their right mind even notices or cares about.

I've got a frontal over on ESS that really shows all the cascades and trickles well...

Aw, cut it out, Ned. You're killin' me with these shots! Love, love, love the color of the splash pool. Wish there was more to see there. Goin' to ESS to see your other one.
