Since my last post regarding publication of photos a new problem has cropped up. Anyone have any suggestions about articles that include text as well as photos? Does a surface area containing text cost more or less than one containing photos?
In my experience, it depends on the publication, what they're willing to pay for the article and photos. Sometimes it's a package deal, sometimes it's a per word fee plus a fee paid for each photo used. I don't know what your last post was about, so I hope I'm on track with what you're asking in this post.
Have you looked at The Writer's Market book? It, along with The Photographer's Market from Writer's Digest Books, often contain much of the information you're looking for.

A page of text is cheaper, but if there's one color (spot color) anywhere on the page, the price of the whole page goes up. If there's a small full-color photo on the page, it costs the same as if the whole page were a photo.
