Hoar Frost
Two completely insignificant birch trees at the side of the A835 Garve - Ullapool road in Scotland. Seriously you wouldn't give them a second glance. Yet on one fabulous crystal clear December morning when the temperature had plummetted to minus 15C, those same trees shout, """"look at me"""" suitably enhanced by wisps of cloud, and my, it was indeed beautiful.

lovely landscape with nice light, the trees are certainly very dramatic

the straight shadows along the bottom of the tree look unatural and are a bit distracting

Wow, absolutely beautiful Ian! Superb play of warm and cool colours - this must have been a totally amazing sight. I've never come across trees coated in ice/frost before - it's making me wish for a harsh winter (unlikely). I think I can see a viaduct in the distance...

Staggering. Amazing what an Arctic plunge in temperatures can do. Half expect to see a herd of Caribou in the background! :toast: :toast:
