Autumn on the Brain
Some of you probably know by now that Richland Creek is one of my favorite places on the planet. I'm always sad to see the fall color pass, and can hardly wait for the next year.

Here is a shot from '06 that I'm just getting around to processing, and have several more to go. I'm sure lots of you guys have the very same shot of the big rock on the right with moss growing along the fractures. I keep telling myself that I'm going to bring a sleeping bag sometime and spend the night on that rock.

Hey Wayne, how 'bout organizing a fall shoot on Richland Creek this year? For a reference, this photo was taken October 22 last year, and the color was slightly past peak. Most of the big gums had already dropped their leaves. :frown: I'm thinking the weekend of the 19th might be a date to shoot for, if anyone's interested in a meet and greet. It would probably be camping only, but what better time of year...? :jump:

Gorgeous shot. The water makes me want to go fishing and just enjoy the view. I agree with being sad when the fall colors go away. Good thing they come back every year. I'd be up for a fall shoot at Richland Creek !!!!!

That's lovely, Bill - really nice color. Sad to say I haven't spent much time on Richland Creek - I hope to rectify that sometime.

Bill, excellent shot, it really makes me long for those fall days, especially today. You can count me in for a fall weekend. Your timing sounds about right. I hope we are lucky enough to catch some water this fall.

Bill beautiful shot. You really found a good assortment of fall colors and the creek is a very nice shade also. Richland is definatly one of my favorite places also in fact I'll have to look and see but I may have been there that same day or real close to it. I think I know the creek pretty well but I can't recognize this spot? Last year we got lucky and had that good rain that hit and popped up richland and falling water, like you said a little past peak. Most years the rain comes after all the leaves have fallen or it takes what little color is left and washes it away. You can count me in for camping at richland almost anytime. Timing fall color is an art all it's own but that sounds like a good date to me also.

Wow! I love everything about this one. The timing for the silky water, the framing and the color. I noticed quite a few trees showing some color around the Missouri Ozarks this past week. I am guessing that it is stress due to lack of moisture.

Beauty of a shot Bill! I love the color of the water here. Of course the palette of color backing the creek isn't bad either!

The difficulty of timing fall color is exactly why I opted for organizing the Spring Gathering Gale. I'd love to organize another gathering but I'm going to be in Colorado for a week and a half, just preceeding the weekend you targeted Bill. I don't think I could swing making it down there too. Sorry I can't make it but don't that let that stop you! :wavey:
