Hey all,
I am wanting to plan a small overnight trip soon to the Loveland Pass area and what I would like to do is go up in the afternoon, hike a little while (weather permitting), sleep in my truck and go out hiking and to take some pics early the next morning.
My main question is am I aloud to park in the parking area on the top of the pass overnight or do I need to find a true campground area?
Sorry for my ignorance as I am a newly Transplanted Minnesotan/Bostonian/Texan/Minnesotan again and now Coloradan(spelling??)
thanks all for your help, oh and any suggestions for good picture areas there!

Many options here, yes you can park right at the top of the pass but you will have the 18 wheelers passing you all night long. I would either park at the parking area by Loveland Pass Lake or if the weather is really bad and windy I would drive back down to I70 and camp at the Herman Gulch trailhead. I have done the last two options already this year with no problem.
Thanks for the reply Jody,
After looking at some maps I am almost thinking about taking the Herman Gulch trail instead.
Have you taking that trail? is it worth my time?
Thanks!

Herman Gulch 1 & Herman Gulch 2 These are from the end of June. I like Herman Gulch a lot, if you climb some of the ridges at the end of the valley you will have some nice views.
