Golden Light at Phantom Lake
I captured this image during a recent backpacking trip in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness which straddles the Wyoming/Montana border. The beautiful golden glow occured just before sunset. Phantom Lake is approximately 10,000 feet in altitude and is surrounded by spectacular peaks. We camped at Phantom Lake for two nights and I came away with several nice images.

I agree with Kalin. Really nice light and subject.

I love the color in the lake. The sky color looks a little dull on my monitor--could just be the light.

Great light to go with a great location. The Beartooths are an amazing place. I studied up there and got married there; wish I could spend more time exploring there. How were the mosquitos - when we were there at the end of June, they were outrageous and we weren't even the wetter parts.

Rick,

You are correct, the Beartooths are an amazing place. Living in Billings, we consider the Beartooths our backyard. I have another backpacking trip in the Beartooths planned for next week. The mosquitos were present, but not as bad as I would have expected.
