So the Lupine are pretty much non existent this year, but the Paintbrush is definitely having a strong year. As Trevor and I circled the Skyline Loop looking for acceptable patches of flowers, the sky briefly cleared just enough to allow some good color to shine through, ending my streak of getting skunked at Rainier at sunset dating back to last summer.

C + C welcome.

Definitely good stuff. This is a testament to the quality of paradise. You can subtract: rainier, tatoosh range, lupine and fantastic weather, and still come away with something.

Yes, good stuff. Without the water in the center of the photo I'd don't thing this one would be as strong. Great thinking.

Yep the water in the center adds a lot to this image - good work

Bryan, I like this shot with the glow in the water...the paintbrush look a bit funky, are they over saturated just a tad?

well done!

Great shot and that water glowing puts nice interest in the center where it was going a little flat.... great shot of the area without using the main elements of the area

Nice one Bryan. Wishing I was up there with you guys. Headed out yesterday to Spray Park instead. It's insanely beautiful up there, and you should definitely give it a shot if you have time. Tons of flowers in the meadows up there....although it was my first time, so I am unsure of how it compares to other years. Was good enough to drop my jaw though.

The reflection in the puddles is my favorite part...

This is a great scene. Really dramatic and very well composed in my opinion. I am really impressed by the composition and the elements that make the image: water, the trees, the clouds, the flowers.
The only thing that I would do differently, is that in my opinion the flowers are way too oversaturated. I am wondering if these are the natural colors, or if it's your intended post processing.

Wonderful image Bryan. I like the nice glow to those small pools of water. And the paint brush in the FG is a nice added touch. I hope to get something next weekend up there. Thanks again for the info you posted. I already booked a camp site for this week!

Thanks all for the comments. To address the various questions:

Yes there was a bit of a saturation bump, but not a whole lot. The flowers really were that vibrant in the first place. Part of the reason they look a little squirrelly is because there was just a hint of wind over the 3 seconds the shutter was open, so the detail in the petals was sort of blurred into a red glob. Not a detail I'd throw the photo out for in any case.

Darien, definitely gonna get up to Spray Park this year, but I'm leaving for a 12-day trip to Japan tomorrow, so it won't be until the end of the month for me. Hopefully the flowers will linger that long, but if not, there are still much worse places to be.

Bryan, good stuff here! Lucky you to be in the good light, and the right place, at the right time.
