I very much appreciate being selected. The photograph “Belted Kingfisher: Portrait in Profile” is certainly the culmination of a great amount of time and effort spent in the pursuit not only of captures in the field, but also of excellence in the art and craft of photography in general.
I am very serious about photography, and have used all the sources of written material I could find and read to improve my skills. It was through joining this site and having others take the time to actually critique my work that I made the most rapid progress. Seeing my photographs through other’s eyes allowed me to realize what my deficiencies were.
In a very real sense the honor of this pick belongs to all those that have commented on my postings. Without their input there is no possibility that I could or would have taken that photograph.
Thank you all.

Peter, thanks for your participation on NPN! By learning from other members how to improve your photography, you in turn will be able to help those who become a part of our community in the future. BTW, it is a superb photo and most certainly deserving of the recognition!
