Waterfall, Sunstar, and Lupine!
Not the best lighting by any means but I was surprised to see the sunstar there.....I think it's my first one....

comment and critiques...aside from the bare sky areas in the top....

Thanks

The sunstar is nice, but it really isn't conducive to a great composition from the perspective you're shooting from here. The composition would have more of an effect if : A; you focused strictly on the flowers and fall, or B; you took an image from behind the flowers, aligning the flowers and sunstar. Just my blunt opinion.

I think the sunstar is pulled off excellently. And the processing looks on to me.

Very interesting spot Darren, For me there are just to many competing elements. Trees lean right , flowers left, Scragy limbs. But there is surley a great shot in there someplace.

yep, it's a pretty busy scene...and this waterfall is by no means a "pretty" one....lots of debris at the base....I was just surprised to see the sunspot in the shot when I got home...it was not something I did on purpose....

Early morning light would work much better here...this was the last place we visited on Saturday and I just thought I would snap a few shots.....

Well I myself like it. The foreground colors help this scene out greatly. The sunstar may be over done a little though. IMHO

I'm gonna have to agree with Erik on the sunstar, and Jerry for the rest of his critique. A good location to shoot though....but in better light.

I could go either way on including the area above the falls. The light is really nice below and the exposure is handled well.

FYI, the flowers are not Lupine. They are Fireweed.

Something about the angle of this compostion is not working for me. The elements of this image (falls, sun burst, flowers) are all nice. I would try shooting this from another vantage point if possible. Other than that the color and exposure is good.

Lots of potential - I could work this one a bit in real life!

Critiques are in, and I agree with all said so far, including the potential that's there. I'll just convey my jealousy, Darren, that you found some fireweed in a good spot to get into a shot. I've been lookin' and finding fireweed, just not in a comp I like. So, you lucky, nice find.

So thats Fireweed. I think this is a great shot my self, although it looks to me like the water fall leans a little to the right. That could just be me.. Great job with the exposure on this Darren, and once again, your detail and crispness is awesome..

This looks like a East side waterfall, have you been this way?

Brian, thanks, this is Umbrella falls which is just outside of the Mount Hood Meadows parking lot...very very very easy to get to
