Rosy Spirea along the Paradise Glacier Trail, MRNP. I've seen this plant along the banks of Reflection Lake but was surprised to find it in this rather barren area of Paradise.

Nicely controlled exposure, this certainly has an alpine feel to it
boy, you were up there a little ways weren't you? Nice find Mark. If I had to nit something, it would be the near black trees.

Mark, I stopped exactly at that same Rosy Spirea on the 30th when it was totally fogged in. I thought, man, someone has to get a shot of this thing! That's by far the largest specimen I've ever seen at such elevation. Glad you were there!

Nice capture, Mark... incredible display of flowers in the foreground, and it really offsets the dark blue sky well...

Great shot, is it a bit too blue?

Thanks everyone.
Mark, I think it may be a little too blue. The original RAW file was too yellow and I must have overcompensated. I don't know about yours but I find my D2X giving me files that are too warm when shooting on sunny and on auto WB and way too warm when set on cloudy. Guess I need to play around with the settings a little more.

Great shot, Mark. It certainly works for me - the blue cast (if there is one) is pretty authentic to the time of day, and a foreground of shade. I've noticed that it's a prolific year for spirea - there are thickets of it in bloom on the north side of Mt. Hood.
