Under Broken Top
Last weekend I hiked up under Broken top and stayed the night. This is a shot from one of the two Tarn's that I stayed at. I took this shot about 1 hr before sunrise. Unfortunately I did not get any thing other than clear blue skies, so I had to make do. I would be interested in your comments on this one.

Nikon D70s
Nikon 18-70mm @ 18mm
30 sec @ f/11
2 stop GND (maybe, I can't remember  )

Great shot....I feel its a bit tight on the sides and the bottom where the flowers are...

I really like the colors and the light

I've always loved this little tarn. Heading further East will take you to a beautiful stream with nice views of the peak and flowers as well. I agree bottom/left seems a bit too tight.

Brian, you live so close, you could really work this area. I ran into a dude here about seven years ago shooting a Pentax 67 (I'd never seen anything so large at the time), and in retrospect, it was probably Ric Ergenbright. At any rate, have fun!

I am not often up before sunrise. In fact, I'm never up before sunrise! So, I probably don't know what I'm talking about... Nevertheless, I venture to say that there seems to be a lot of contrast and harshness to the colors here. Is that typical of pre-sunrise?
Certainly looks like a beautiful place, and I can see why you like going up there.
