On my daily commute over Hwy 47, I reach a max elevation of 1,000 feet and then drop back down to around 700. As I start climbing above about 500' I'm seeing vine maple that is already changing color. The one in our front yard (slightly under 700') is already a deep dark red.

Ain't it a little early???

Yeah, it's too early for Autumn color. But trees/bushes that have poor soil conditions and are stressed due to lack of moisture/nuitrients can loose their leaves early.

I've noticed maples turning here and there amongst my drives. Surely different than last years. something kinda wierd, more than poor soil me thinks...maybe THE END OF THE WORLD!!!

I've notice early sings of fall in leaf color in many areas the past few weeks too. Thanks for the heads up on the Nikon/Canon prophesy Curtis... I didn't recognize the signs so I'll be shooting the heck out of my D-200... while it's BETTER! :jump:
