Hey everyone. I was up at Hood running a training camp last week. Looks like I missed some flowers peaking in the cascades but there are still plenty. I scratched the heck out of my 2ssgnd this morning and switched to taking shade photos. Just as well since I had apparently left any skill or luck I have at home this morning.
I don't think the flowers are quite sharp enough in this photo. I'd like to hear some yays or nays as to its worthiness of a reshoot. As well as any other comments regarding said photo.
i really like this, and i'm not a big fan of waterfall photos. it has nice depth and makes me wonder about the rest of the scene so there's a bit of mystery there too. if it were my shot i may try to darken up the far bank in the upper right so the lighting doesn't lead the eye out of the photo and it would match the other 3 corners.
you may try yanking that grey stick out of the streambank there and those 2 spots of bird poop on the far bank.
it's a bit cool and seems a bit dark on one or my calibrated monitors
i am still curious just for the heck of it about the rest of the area, you have any shots of that ?

I like your composition although perhaps it could use a little more room around the flowers so they weren't as close to the edge of the frame. I agree with the previous comment about removing (if possible) the dead branch (?) that lies between the flowers and water. Anytime you can combine wildflowers and waterfalls it's a good thing. Nice stuff....definitely worth a reshoot if you think one is needed.
i just looked again after a few hours, thinking my opinion on this might change, but it hasn't. i've walked somewhere between 40 and 100 miles in stream surveys (one day i'll add it up) and it's little places like this that have all the magic. like it looks like stuff i've only seen way out of the way, but this could be 5 feet from the road with cars and trucks zooming by and honking at you, but it captured something interesting.
photographically maybe it doesn't knock my waders off, but it just has some sort of magic to it that i can't put a finger on.
i think i said something like that about another stream photo i saw here, i think i'll go explore some streams this next few weeks.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to head back up there tomorrow and see if I can improve on this and another shot I thought I'd got right...but didn't. I have made some changes to this shot based on feedback.
Michael: This is the high alpine stream which runs along the Broken Top trail. The flowers are beautiful, but waning right now. I wish I could do better justice to this area but, there have been a couple of posts lately which have done a fine job.

I had a little better luck shooting today. I had overused my polarizer yesterday and sabotaged my shots...this one still required a polarizer...but it was the only one.
I like the original shot perspective a little better but, the colors and subtracted branches seem better to me in this shot. This rock wall wraps around behind this shot and my head was pressed against it.
Thanks for looking. Hope everyone is enjoying the great weather this weekend.
