Black Balsam Sunset ( sort of )
Last month when my wife and I went to North Carolina one evening we went to the Black Balsam area to hike up top for the sunset. About the time we parked the car the low clouds started to roll in and this is what we were left with for a sunset. Oh well. We had hiked up in the afternoon to get an idea of the area and it was still worth it. ( both times )

Nice shot. I like the B&W showing all the textures in the rock. Sometimes fog is better that sunsets! Hope you had a good time here in NC! :wavey:

Thanks to all of you for the nice comments. The texture of this rock is what drew me to it. The light was so low and colors so muted that B&W seemed to be the way to go.

Oh and Alice we had a great time. We stayed in Breverd and kept the road up to the BRP warm, did a good bit of hiking and just checking out the area. It was the first time we have stayed in that area but I'm sure we'll be back.

Bruce,

I like this a lot and its the texture in the rock which really jumps out and grabs you.

Glad you had a good trip. Looks like it!
