Just read in the paper that tonight into the early hours is a great meteor shower show.
Has anyone taken shots of that sort of thing? It will be a first for me.
I am going to a high bit in Dartmoor where there is not so much light pollution.
I am agonising over the settings in camera, any suggestions?

Paula,
I've just moved into Lydford on the edge of Dartmoor - what part are you going to?
Regards Chris.

Thanks about the article Mark,...and Chris, I think I will go to Combestone Tor, nr Ashburton on the Holne road...you have a 380 degrees view there but there are so many places on Dartmoor that would be right.
Might I meet you there?

Paula,
No not tonight unfortunately, mainly because I don't know my way around here yet and from what I can see on the map, it is abit of a trek from Lydford. Sorry about that, but would be great to meet up sometime though!
ahh how romantic - a meteor lit sky... the sound of wedding bells.......

Hi All,
The darkest cloud possible has decended over my area and the rain has just started pouring so looks like it might be a washout for me
Regards

Sunny Devon is coming up trumps for a change! Great forecast for the night!

Touch and go at the moment here in Ashton-in-Makerfield. I'm told peak time will be midnight tonight in the northeast sky and use a wide angle lens, long exposure and high ISO for a decent chance at capturing some.
Good luck everyone.

Cloud cover here in Cheshire - seen 2 streaks through gaps in the cloud but it's really thickened up now.
If you are shooting long sequential time exposures watch your sensor doesn't overheat
Will be looking again after midnight, best viewing times are supposed to be from 1am onwards so I've read
I've just posted my shot from last night, I didn’t do well at capturing the meteors but got lots of star trails. Would love to see what you captured.
Settings wise use bulb, wide aperture, focus on foreground if you have any but try to keep a good few meters away from it so background isn’t totally blurred. I use hand warmers wrapped around the lens to keep it free from dew - works very well. Last night everything was soaked in water except the lens.
