Another angle of the Colorado Springs storm, taken from just east of Castle Rock (Hidden Mesa area) around same time as Toms. 30 second exposure, f4.5, iso 400, 22mm, RAW format.
Wow - the lightning shots are really rolling in! I really like the nuclear mushroom-cloud like feel here, Timothy. I'm not sure about the swooshing headlights - I like the effect and the context it lends to the scene , but it's competing heavily with the lightning and cloud. I'll have to think about it some more. Might be interesting to crop in from the right to eliminate the swoosh. Then the more subtle red glow of the cloud on the left side might stand out more. Either way, very nicely done!!

Shot from my deck and was mumbling about the car lights.... did a vertical crop but had to pick one to post, this one showed a bit more of storm structure, what I liked was the clouds above the lightning illuminated and the star background, kinda fun snapshot anyway.... couldnt figure how to post on Tom's posting or would have added there. Shot for about 30 minutes, liked this one best, not easy to capture a GOOD image, let alone a GREAT one. Feel free to crop and repost if you desire, again more a fun shot than serious work but figured Id post a 2nd angle of the storm Tom shot!
Tim - while anyone can include an image in a new post, posting images in replies requires an NPN membership. You can always link to an image in a reply, though. There's a sticky thread at the top of the forum that describes the various posting options.

I really like the glow inside the clouds. I think I agree with both of you. I don't particularly like the headlights on this one, but I wouldn't want to crop this shot either. Maybe consider cloning or burning the lights out?

I love that mushroom cloud effect! Really makes the shot for me. Cross your fingers for another great show tonight. Or not. Who knows?!

Tim...I was greatful the the isolated cells stayed just to my east, although I was in danger while shooting. The stars were overhead, but there could have been a bolt from the black!

Mega lightning show for sure, pretty late in the evening to boot.
