To celebrate another year getting older today I continued my tradition that I started last year. Riding from Idaho Springs to Mount Evans Summit parking lot, 28 miles, 7000+ft gain. And some how I knocked 7minutes off my time, 3:05 total.Jody at Summit
Due to some health issues this year has kept me off my bike, less than 400 miles ridden before my 2nd annual idiot ride. The last time I was on my bike before today was about 7 weeks ago. Am I crazy for punishment? I must be considering the 3ers I hiked earlier in the week with close to 10,000+ ft gain from all 3.
Well if you're going to have a not-nearly-at-mid-life crisis, climbing 13ers and riding your bike up to Mt. Evans is probably the healthiest way to demonstrate your virility - literally and figuratively . Congrats on knocking a nice chunk of time off of the total!
I'd love to tag along on some of those hikes that you're doing. But seeing how I was sucking wind on a 2-mile hike at 11,000 feet in the Snowies, I'll have to live vicariously through your high altitude adventures, at least until I can get back into shape {...takes another swig of Fat Tire... }.
Happy Birthday dude!

Happy B-Day, Jody! I can beat that time by quite a bit on a bike, but mine would have a motor.

Happy Birthday! Nice way to celebrate. A little masochistic, but nice.

Happy birthday, Jody. I remember when you did this ride last year. You are not crazy for this punishment...the more suffering, the greater the feeling of accomplishment. I still can't believe that Tom Danielson did that ride in 1:41:20. I've been training on my bike a fair amount this summer...sure beats the constant impact of running. Lemme know if you want to ride some time. What are you riding these days?

Anybody want to go hiking?

Happy birthday, Jody! Just remember, age is only a number. My next number (40) just happens to scare the living %$#&@ out of me.
