I was literally running and leaping over offtrail boulders to arrive at this area at peak light, unfortunately I was trying to hike to an open area upon the sky being ablaze ( quite intensely frustrating!). I would definitely throw this viewpoint in the top tier of NC views, truly inspiring to witness it with the larch colors. Instead or resting, I did another 10+ mile dayhike the next day- the beauty of living fairly close to the mountains.

Beautiful scene, Trevor - love the color and light in the clouds and background peaks! Gorgeous! For me, they are the focus of the image, so I'd suggest a crop to leave the bottom two flowers off, and maybe burning the resulting lower right corner a bit to de-emphasize the leaves.
You're right about living in the PNW, of course!

Nice image, Trevor. I agree with the cropping. I like the proportions of the comp better that way. It looks like you found a really nice spot, I can see why you count it as one of your top viewpoints!

This is really beautiful Trevor. The foreground seems perfectly processed (feel free to share your technique ). At first I thought I'd recommend a crop too but, I like seeing more stem and I like the rocks at the base of the foreground. If you do crop, my recommendation would be just above the first flower. The second one up could go too, but then you've lost a lot stem which helps to ground the shot.
Thanks, Hans. I was thinking the exact same thing regarding the crop. I like the inclusion of the smaller flower in its-near-central position.
Processing: Light was great at the time of exposure. I generally attempt to get the best exposure the field; to produce an optimal signal to noise ratio. Then I adjust levels/curves to ensure proper light balance. I did some selective dodging and burning on the foliage here. Polarizer was used to reduce reflections on the plants.

Wonderful work here Trevor. The vibrant paint brush with the dramatic sky is a nice combo.

This is top quality work, Trevor! You say you missed the peak light in this shot, but it doesn't look like anything is missing here. This is a beautiful view.

Hmmm, just noticed that the patch of blue sky forms a nearly perfect "heart" shape.
