Dan is right, of course. Not sure if Marc has seen this thread but I'm sure he can help clear it up when he does.

The other image that disappeared was another version of Bristle Cone Pine in Color, by Frank Millard, the sky had all kinds of artifacts in it and I could see sharpening halos adn said as much. Now there is a different version where that has been corrected. Marc had commented on that too.

Well, yeah. I know the rules. I often post and repost images when web conversions don't look right. But usually immediately, and never after I've recieved comments. The image I posted yesterday couldn't have been on screen for more than a few moments while I reworked the web version, so I'm very surprised more than one person commented in that time - three people?! Geez, you guys are fast! Talk about bad timing!. The sharpening was way too intense and the red channel was blown a little in the sky, which you probably noticed if you saw the image briefly. I deleted the file before I had refreshed the screen to even see the comments. I should have just deleted it instantly to avoid this, as I usually do. I did not repost the image immediately because I got distracted and was on my way out for the evening anyway. I intended to post it again when I had a moment. My sincere appologies to anyone who commented.
The rule is in place because there are strict guidelines for posting one photo every 48 hours. If someone felt they had recieved adequete critique on an image in less than that alloted time, then deleted it and posted a new one, the system would not recognize that they had exceeded their posting limit. It's a loophole that necessitates such a rule. The posting limit obviously just keeps things fair for all members using the system. I certainly have never posted more than 1 photo every 48 hours.
Lia - I did notice the image you (and I) commented on had been reposted after it had been up for an hour or more with several comments. I did not mention this to the poster of the image, but I intend to. It's a common mistake among those not familiar enough with NPN's posting guidelines.
Hope that clears things up a bit. I can assure you it won't happen again. At least not with one of mine!

Marc
I hope you do post that image again, I really liked it.
I was concerned since it was more than one image I had commented on that disappeared that some thing was wrong.

Guess I'll have to wait out my 48 hours now though Since some of you apparently saw the first one. Glad you liked it, anyway.
