Volunteers to test another action? - Updated
I've just posted a new action to my website that creates a "35mm Slide" from any horizontal image (I'll have one for vertical as well, soon). The .atn and .zip file are both available for download.

It creates a thumbnail sized photo within a 35mm frame, as you see here.

I'd appreciate it if one or two of you could try it out, let me know what you think, and let me know if you thing the slide looks good.

Thanks,

Ryan

P.S. It is current set up to be used with a white background. I'm developing an option to be used with any colored background.

That is really cool!

Works for me (on a Mac, download and all). It made the color a little bit too red but that might be the file also.

Ryan, what happened to the double mat action? I thought I had the latest version but all it does (and give me no option) is single mats.

For some reason it is turning my photos a bit red, Ryan. I've checked on some current photos and it's still doing it.

Mark, I'm not sure why the red cast. I'll see what's going on when I get back home this evening. It shouldn't be doing any color correction (or demolition for that matter) to the image. It should just re-size it and paste it into the slide. I didn't notice any red casts to the images I tested on. It's probably your Mac, you'll just have to trade it in for a PC to run this action.

As for the double mat option, it should be there. I did have the link on the download page pointed to the wrong file for a while, so if you downloaded a file during that time, it might not have been the latest version. You might try downloading it again and giving it a run.

Let me know if that works. If not, I'll check the action and links on the page.

These are actions are really sweet, BTW. I really appreciate you doing this. I'll buy you lunch at the next outing.

Ryan, I downloaded the action and gave it a shot. Lots of fun to use and worked great with a flattened file. I think it may change the color space to ProPhoto in one of the actions causing a red cast for those of use who use a different colorspace. I didn't double check this but, I notice the shot I tested ended up in ProPhoto.

Hans, good catch. It may very well be doing that. When I get home this even I'll check that out. I should be able to change that to something more standard.

Thanks!

Mark, did you get the double mat to work?
Posted by Mark Hudon on August 14, 2007 at 5:15 PM
Oh yeah, there we go, Jeez, Ryan! This is dang sweet!

I'm glad they are well received. I'm enjoying putting them together. I'm not able to get out for photography too much right now (my wife deserves a break from child care on the weekends), but this is a way for me to spend some time and perhaps share something related to photography with everyone.

Okay, new version of the horizontal slide action has been posted on my download page. I'm hopeful that it will take care of the red hued images and it also gives you an opportunity to choose what color you want the background to be, or continue on to accept white as the background color. If this seems to work well, I'll probably call this one done, and add a vertical version to include in the action.

For my faithful beta testers out there, thanks so much for helping out!!

Thanks, Ryan - was just going to inquire about the vertical upcoming version when I saw your post first.. seems 80 % of mine are in that format!

Ned, the vertical version is online now. Download it and give it a run.

Here's a sample of the vertical result.

This is very cool Ryan. I need to pull these down and play with them too!
