Took my new bag hide out for a trial run at the weekend and I was intending on photographing some Sandpipers at my local NR. It seemed to work pretty well as after about an hour of lying in amongst the reeds this Heron landed about 30 feet away from me and took me completely by surprise. It had a mooch around for a couple of minutes before flying off.
Thanks.

Super image Paul - great PoV
1.6CF+500mm+1.4tc = 1120mm and cropped to boot, that's 30 VERY BIG FEET

Ha ha I wondered if someone would do a bit of math No this was taken after the Heron had made a short flight away from me to the other end of the reserve.

Nice typical Heron, like the viewpoint, however I woder what it would have looked like had you dropped the 1.4 and got the full reflection in the still water?
Still a good one.

Yes I agree with PhilH and would like to have seen the full reflection, but still an excellent shot as is.

Very good shot, I like the low angle too and the bg.
I would have been too scared to frighten the bird by starting to take off converters etc.

Nice one the low shooting angle works well!

I guess you could very slightly blur the leg reflection, if you wished to tinker, but its a fine result as it is.
