In my time as a photographer, I've never needed a model release...till now. In short, I photographed a young girl on a beach and have gotten verbal permission from her father, but think I need something in writing for most publishers to even consider using them. Is there an easy form I can download somewhere?
Thanks in advance.

Editorial Photographers has a few adult releases. editorialphoto.com
Dan, EP is indeed a great resource and I highly recomend you look at the site and consider joining the group. They offer a wealth of knowledge for the industry of photography and its membership is the top in the world. It's the best resource I know of for information if you plan to sell your work and want to protect not only yourself but the industry and the rest of us.
Here is a link to the model release they have available to non-members for use. http://www.editorialphoto.com/ep/forms/
However this is an adult release form. You can make due if you have her parent sign it and indicate they are the guardian for the young girl, which should be named on the form someplace, but you should really develop a minor's release form for your use. I could not find one on line avalible to the public in my short search, but they are out there. I am happy to share mine with you if you like. Just contact me and I can e-mail it to you. I have one I have been using for years and it is based on al the requirements of my 4 stock agencies.
PLEASE also get the Terms and Conditions form available from EP and use it. This protects you and will give you a much higher level of professionalism.
PLEASE register your images with the US copyright office to protect yourself before submitting any images.
There is great info on the EP site for how and why to do all these things.
Here is a link to an article on the ASMP site about model releasing you can check out http://www.asmp.org/commerce/legal/releases/AboutPropertyRel.php
