Roe doe in evening sunlight.
Canon 20D, Canon 100-400mm @ 310mm, 1/200 sec @ f8, -1/3 exp. comp.
Raw, iso 100, Gitzo 1548/B1.

Full frame, levels, curves, hue/saturation.

Hi,

Despite putting in many hours at dawn and dusk in an effort to locate this Roe deer in time to photograph them during the rutting season, things were looking bleak with very infrequent sightings. Thankfully and with just a few days to spare I managed to eventually pinpoint them.
This is one of the does just a couple of days before the beginning of the rut enjoying the last ray's of sunshine.

All comments always welcome and appreciated.

Very very nice, a smidging to close the the LHS but the colour is wonderful.

Lovely shot Justin :toast:
Agree with Tom, bum is a bit too close to LHS but the head is bang on the right place - 300mm will have done the job

Nice one Justin. The light is good and I disagree about the composition. If you had the deer further right you would have been critisized for having it too much in the center.

Super shot Justin as per usual

I also think it's slightly tight but it's really subjective and just my opinion. About 5mm all round would make this perfect for me. Technically looks bang on. The light and colours look superb. I'd very much like this in my bag > I reckon you have the sharpest copy of that lens in the world....coupled with great skills of course

Great image, Justin. Those 10 mm of focal length are probably too much, but it's a great image with nice pose and light never the less.

Cheers,
Marko
