Not sure what anyone will make of the setting in this shot

My local stonechats tend to habit the usual grassy coastal areas and shoreline rocks/shingle fairly equally, so this is a common setting/view for me.

Its a bit of a hefty crop {not a great idea with the d2h/4mp}, but the little blighter wouldn't hang about long enough for me to get as close as i would have liked

Hi Alan,

I think the setting works very well particularly the pale and neutral coloured backdrop and rock which really makes the bird stand out so well.
Nice bright light too, but without being too harsh.
I think these are lovely little birds and always a pleasure to a see a photo of them.

It's a great set up, Alan. And they are not called Stonechat for nothing. Justin rounded critique very nicely, so nothing else left for me to say.

Cheers,
Marko

The setting certainly works for me, especially considering the bird's common name.Great neutral BG sets of the subject well.

Very attractive shot with good sharpnes, colours and composition. Beautiful.
