Idyllic Lullaby
Southwest Washington county has some beautiful agricultural land. In the spring, the hills are verdant and green with sprouting wheat. Vineyards and orchards proliferate. In a few fields I've had my eye on, farmers plant a variety of photogenic clover that blooms profusely with very large, brilliant flowers.

This little scene looks out over the western end of the sleepy little town of Laurelwood. In the foreground is the filbert orchard that overlooks my grandparents' house (which is out of view). Wheat grows in the distant fields, and the copse on top of the main hill in the midground encircles an old cemetery.

This was taken with my 20D and my 70-200 f/4L at somewhere around 100 to 120mm. This is a PS blend of two exposures taken before I bought my first set of grads.

Thanks for looking!

Beautiful.

It looks timeless, like it could have been taken centuries ago. And the clouds...

Very cool, Mike - this is a few miles from where I lived my first 18 years...

Dang, someone discovered it! ;-) Mike, I've been telling myself to get over there to photog ever since we were over there looking for property for sale about 3 years ago. It really is nice over there.

You captured a gorgeous image here. I agree with Lance that this is timeless. :toast:

Nice shot Mike, this is a beautiful scene. I like the hazy atmosphere of the shot. Looks like midsummer. I'm wondering if the midground and sky may benefit from a slight contrast boost though. I only say that because I did think HDR when I saw the cloud. Honestly though, I couldn't pick out why.
