Bought myself some extension tubes, and while in the garden experimenting this young lady landed in a bush next to me.
Not sure about the BG..a bit messy.

Hi Stuart,

What a cracker. For me the BG is out of focus enough not to be distracting and my eyes stay firmly on the Dragonfly. Pin sharp with great colours and a good composition, my only minor nit is toward the bottom of the frame and close to her right wing tip, have you done some cloning? as something does'nt look quite right??

Where abouts in Suffolk are you? I'm in the west near Sudbury.

Regards

Rob

Hi Rob,
Thanks.
Yes small amount of clonning, which as you can see I'm not very good at....

I'm near stowmarket, not far from you.

Very nice image Stuart :toast:
BG works for me just fine - just a pity about the cloning artefacts - have another go with perhaps a much softer brush (very rare I do and cloning above 10% hardness, and when doing an area of flat colour you are best unticking the Aligned check box, clone stamp, then go over the area with a healing brush.

Hi Stuart

A little tight in the frame but otherwise very nice!

Stuart,

I like this. Pin sharp, and the background is suitably out of focus.

I've been thinking of getting some extension tubes for my 100-400mm, so am really interested in how well your image has turned out.

Thanks for the positive feed back,I would of liked more room in the frame but the surounding foliage was the limiting factor.

Andy,Thanks for the cloning tips,It's one of those hit and miss things for me at the momment, will give it a go with your suggestions.

Hi,

As said a touch tight in the frame, but great sharpness..... certainly shows ahat is possible from the ext tube/1-400 combo, I often use a slightly similar combo of tubes and a 300/4 every bit as good as a dedicated c/u-macro lens.

nice one
