Fulmar
Plucked up the courage to walk the tops of my coastal cliffs, a few weeks ago :eek:

They are notoriously unstable {a woman recently died from a landslide}.

The local authority have been securing many large areas of cliff-face with steel mesh, which has greatly reduced the number of rock ledges for nesting birds, although there are still plenty of nooks and crannies for them.

I don't think the fulmars actually nested on this particular site this year, but there was few flying around, and this is one of the few shots that i managed.

400mm +1.6 tc
cropped to portrait {requiring a touch of noise ninja}

One of my favourite seabirds and a very very nice image, I do find the colour rendition a little cool.

Phillip.

Possibly the best flight shot I have seen of a Fulmar. Great work. Possibly warm it up a little as Philip says but I love it as is

Great photo Alan! Dramatic position of fulmar, deep blue colour and bands of darker blue complementing bird’s wings position are what makes this photo for me.

Cheers,
Marko
