This is from last night - I hiked up into the clouds for some flower scenes, and the possibility of Hood poking out at some point. I went black and white -- and dark -- on this to bring out a foreboding sense of stormy weather in the mountains. Comments and suggestions welcome!

An ideal subject for B&W. Appears a little too dark on my monitor, though.

Hmmm..... I was wondering about that, too. Here's a slightly brighter version. Thanks, Mark.

That's better. What elevation were you at?

I was thinking "too dark" as I saw the first, "much better" as I saw the second, but I think you could still go a little further Tom. I really like the detail in the fractures of the glacier. Just a tad brighter and I think you have a winner. This really represents what I perceive to be your style well (albeit black and white). Great shot.

Thanks, Hans - here's another notch upward... did I go too far? It still has the "fearsome" quality that I was trying to capture, albeit a bit less foreboding.
Mark, this was simply taken from Elk Cove using a telephoto lens - no scrambling required.

Perfect (to me)! Great shot Tom.

Tom, I like the last one the best of the bunch. Still has a dramatic feel to the piece. Yet something about is not fully catching me. I am thinking there is too much of the dark rock on the left side. Looks like it was a nice view you were enjoying here.
I vote for #2 if foreboding is your goal. That one is real moody and a very skillful interpretation. #3 has great detail. Nice work.

The last version seems to hit the spot for me..

Thanks for the comments, everyone - much appreciated! I think I favor No. 3, too. The corollary to my tendency to go too wide is to go too dark, and I'm usually pleasantly surprised when I'm prodded to go a bit lighter..!
