Nice shot but looks really noisy

Yep, it does look very noisy to me also!

Great piece of activity captured though, although i feel the plant-head distracts my eye in this composition.

Idealy {in my opinion}, a vertical crop {removing the plant head} would improve the composition, but 'if ' the noise is a result of a large crop, this may be pushing the boundaries a bit too much.

Hope you can tweak the image a touch, as they are great birds to have in your files {i'm still striving to get some myself :frown: }.

This has got to be a massive crop Paul - D2X just isn't that noisy - pity really as the action in the image is great.

Agree with Alan over the crop suggestion :wavey: :wavey:

What a beautiful bird, I quite like the plant head I must admit, just a shame about noise. But still doesn't distract my enjoyment of the bird. Nice shot.

It's a very well caught moment and it's always good to see an image of a bird going about his business whether preening, calling fishing, etc.
The plain background is great and I like the perch although I'd perhaps like to see it in a more vertical orienation if it's been put in place specifically with photography in mind.
I find the sunlight a little too harsh if I'm honest although it has resulted in a nice bright catchlight in the bird's eye and it has also revealed the wonderful colours on the bird's back.
As has already been mentioned the image does appear a little noisy although I'm sure one of the excellent noise reduction programmes would help out here a little.

Is it a very large crop?
If so I personally think it's a good idea to state that along with the images technical details, a few pixels here or there isn't a major issue at all but I think it's a good idea to disclose if an image has been cropped significantly.

Thanks all for the comments, the crop is around 25% but really over did the sharpening bit perhaps.
Have reworked taking onboard your comments hope it is better

Thanks
