One of my favorite places in the world. There are plenty of places equally as beautiful, but most of them come with crowds. Even on the roads, there aren't many people to run into (save for holidays), and once you get on the trails, you've got it all to yourself.

Taken atop the west summit of Beartooth Pass, looking southwest to the Beartooth-Absaroka wilderness. We parked the truck up here, shot sunset, enjoyed a nice evening in the 40s, then shot sunrise. This was one of the last shots of the morning. Clouds off to the east were coming and going. The alpenglow here is being subdued by some of those thin clouds.

Nice view and interesting light on the foreground rocks. I love the pastel clouds too. Works for me!

Looks like a grand place, Rick. It's on my to-do list, before it gets "discovered" hopefully. Really nice light on this shot.

Hi Rick. Beautiful shot! Excellent light, subject, and dynamic range. You're right, the Beartooths are very much like the Snowies. Have a great trip!

Luscious light on a beautiful composition. Makes me want to sit down in the lush vegetation and comtemplate the beauty of nature.

Yep, she's a beauty. I think I like this better as-is than I would if the clouds weren't present and you had the full-on alpenglow.

Bret makes a good point about the alpenglow. The photo has a soft, peaceful feel as a result of the subdued alpenglow. Thanks for sharing. :wavey:

I love the subtle light. It gives it an inviting feel, like I should walk right into it. Very nice!

Killer shot (as usual  ) ...but why the 8080 and not 4x5 ??

Just goes to show that camera type means absolutely nothing in photography. I would have guessed film scan. There's a certain quality to your imagery in general that is very appealing to me ... hard to describe, but others have hinted at it. In today's world of "cartoonishly-treated" landscapes, it's a treat to view images likes this - which is absolutely sublime by the way. Don't change a thing in your processing workflow! A general comment about all of your images lately, I guess.

Although, I immediately saw your leg shadows in those rocks ... no?

Hey René - sorry I missed your question. The 4x5 was setup further up the hill pointing elsewhere. I was wandering around shooting with the 8080 waiting for the light to change... Although, at 8MP, even the p&s can make some nice prints!
