Red Kite
I had another trip to Gigrin the other day.And paid the extra to go in the new higher hide, which was great.

I was well out of the way of the mums and dads with the kids  .Plus i could use my tri-pod, so no neck ache and arm ache lol.

Clonker of an image Alan :toast: :toast:

I was planning on asking about these new hides - I take it the tower is better than the new ground level hide??

This is a great capture Alan very nice flight shot. What do they charge for the use of the hides?

Great shot Alan. As has been said, great detail.

The tower hide is superb. Fits 5 with tripods but I reckon that's a bit tight. 4 would be perfect.
I reckon it's better than any of the ground hides, but saying that, the ground hides give you different BG's :toast:

Thanks for the kind comments :toast:

As for the new hide..................

I found the problem with the lower ones is when i was sat on the wooden seats i couldn't use a tri-pod, so i had to rest the lens tri-pod arm on the window sill(i could of used a bag but that restricts any panning movement). Now this is OK to start with, but when trying to get flight shots i had to bend lower down which will put the end of the lens pointing up, which in turn puts your neck at a awkward angle ending up with bad neck ache :frown: .

With the new "higher" hide, its all open.I mean there is no window just a massive opening  .Loads of room for my 1548 gitzo, with legs extended to the max(i am tall lol).As Graeme said 4 peeps would be ideal for it, not 5(owner thinking of the money there IMO).Plus the field of vision is superb.

If you plan to go then either pre-book a place in the hide or just turn up and pay the £15 to get in there(mid week would be allright, but on the weekends i would pre-book as it gets very busy with photography peeps). Its money well spent  .

Hi Alan,

Looks like you've made very good use of the new hide and come away with an excellent result.
