Blue Grouse
At least I think it is a female blue grouse. Captured this morning while hiking along the Poudre River Trail in RMNP. Thanks for looking.

He doesn't look blue.
Really nice portrait. Saw one of these with a chick the other day, but was too tired to pull the camera back out.

FALSE ADVERTISING!

This is nice Dan. It'd be nice if there was no grass in front, but I'm sure its near impossible to get such a bird into an opening like that.

Very nice, as usual!

I do lots of bird portraits, so I know how difficult it is to get a shot like this, especially on these skulky grassland birds. The grass doesn't bother me, but you might try lightening that shadow stripe immediately behind the eye. Nice shot anyway, though, on a tough bird to catch.

Very nice capture, Dan. Don't mind the grass at all, if anything it should be a requirement since it is so much a part of the bird's habitat.

Nice catch Dan. The grass coverage is a minor nit but it is the birds habitat. Nice work on a tough subject.
