I seem cursed to bring rain lately whenever I go out early. Last Saturday I went out early, and it rained. This weekend, I get out early, and it rained. Today, I wasn't out quite as early, so I missed what looked like showers over the Bottoms. None of the rain amounted to much, mostly sprinkles, but enough, especially last weekend, to put an end to what was already going to be a short outing. This pic was taken right before the sun rose. There was only a small window in the clouds for it to shine through. This field is across the highway from Cheyenne Bottoms, but has been part of the Bottoms since May. Comments/critiques welcome, thanks for looking.

Hi Rob, Beautiful shot. I like the look of the center of the storm apparently forming over the wetlands. It was worth it to suffer the rain for this shot. I showed this shot to my wife and she told me her great-uncles used to farm the bottoms in the '40s & '50s.
Beautiful color in the cloud formations, Rob. I wish you would come down to Arkie land, and bring some of that rain with you!

Really nice color in this image, Rob - and there are some nice things in here you might try bringing out. For example, the nice swirling patterns in the clouds. I also might consider cropping in from the left just a bit.

Rob, I find the color in the sky at right to be very interesting. The reds seem to be suspended from beneath the blue clouds.

Here is a second attempt. I changed the crop, and tried to bring out the clouds more. Is this an improvement? What could be done better? Thanks for the input.

Yep, a definite improvement, making the sign and the receding fence lines contributing parts of the composition rather than clutter along the bottom of the image. It also helps that you adjusted the contrast to help bring out the richness of the sunset colors.
