Left for Dead
A gnarled and dead root system lies atop a ridge just East of the Pacific Crest as the sun sets. I suspect someone drug it to this spot with the idea of a camp fire but thought better of it.

A 2 image HDR Blend. Does it look natural and is it too dark. For me I liked the way the gnarled roots picked up the glow of last light.

I am on the fence on this, comments and critiuques would be most welcome!

This is a very nice photograph. I think it would benefit from a little bit lighter foreground. Not too much but enough to make out the details better and add some depth. I like how the roots seem to glow too and I love the sky.

Again, nice shot,

Khristian

I like this.....colors are dramatic enough to hold attention....

I would like to see less on the left and more on the right...place the dead wood in the lower left of the photo

I like the spirit of this shot a lot. I would crop away 1/2 of the rock on the Left (thus removing most of the dark subject and also taking the roots out of the center of the frame and make this into a 4x5 aspect ratio and print a 16x20 for my wall

I think it's only too dark at the left, so I like John's suggestion. Beautifully captured and processed.
