Hi all

Just wondering about Bempton Cliffs, is it still a good time to go or would alot of the birds have moved on??? The reason being is my mum is desperate for a nice photo of a puffin and its her birthday in 2 weeks, if its not a good time to go, does anyone have any images i could buy!!!!

Thanks

Andy

It's too late for puffin's now, they're probably all out at sea.

Andy if you type puffin into the search this forum and select Regional: UKNP in the boxes at the top of this page, you'll get quite a few puffin images come up that have been posted over the years. Even if there's not a particular image you like (unlikely) the chances are the photographer will have many more different ones.
If it was me I'd choose one and e-mail the photographer for their print prices.

Visited Bempton on 27th July last year and there was only one Puffin left there - loads of Gannets and guga's though. I also took a day trip to May at the end of July and the place was deserted with only a few gulls left. So I guess you'll find all the British colonies have fledged and departed now.

I've noticed most books etc seem to refer to the Puffins and Auks departing towards the end of August - it might have been true 30 years ago, but it isn't true any longer. Most British colonies seem to depart by the middle of July with only a very few stragglers left over.
