Took this a couple of months ago {while nikon were sorting out my back-focus issues with the D2h}.
I was checking over my feeding station perches/stumps etc, in preperation for this autumn/winter, and wasn't intending to do any photography {although i had my gear with me}.
Heard this little chap on one of my 'woodpecker' stumps, and just had time to grab my camera and fire off a single frame.
He appears to have slightly moved his head out of precise focus, but still within DOF {which is a slight annoyance}, although it seems to make a reasonable smallish print

A lovely image. The colours are very complementary. Absolutely charming.

Very good catch, Alan. Too bad for slight head turn in wrong direction . Colours and set-up on the other hand is plain fantastic! I'm looking forward to see those woodpeckers.
Cheers,
Marko

You have Woodpecker stump???? I'd be happy with a stump! One of the best shots I've posted lately too of this bird. A real shame about the headturn though, but a wonderful image in all other respects Alan

sure, shame about the head turn but what a gorgeous shot nevertheless. Lovely colours, great perch and bg and a little beauty of a bird.
