Teton Sunset from Schwabacher's
Here is a sunset from Schwabacher's landing from last week. There was not much color happening so I worked with the sun and clouds. C&C welcome.

Purty! Nice reflection too.

I like the clouds/sky and the fact that you have detail in the shadows, especially the mountain faces. But the sun is a little over-powering to my eye - it draws my eye too strongly. If you could dial that highlight area down a little the balance might be better. Nice reflection too!

SunRISE shots are so ubiquitous from here, it's really nice to see something different, especially of this quality.

I agree with Todd - it's nice to see an excellent, novel shot from this location. I'm guessing you shot this a bit nearer to the parking lot than the "standard" spot pockmarked with tripod holes (mine included). I like the detail in the mountains and personally find the effect of the sun to be pleasing. When I was in the Tetons earlier this summer I spent 3 straight evenings shooting from the Snake River overlook with no luck. I'll definitely check out this spot next time thanks to your image. Nice work!

Thanks guys! I deliberatly try to do things that are different from the norm. If I have seen it done I try to avoid it or at least do something different with it. This was from the Scwabacker Landing trail about 1/4 mile south of the beaver dam. I spent over an hour shooting from here and have a lot of shots that are going to take some effort to get right. Really tough light from shooting almost straight into the sun. There is tons of detail though. The sun was lighting up a cloud to left of GT peak and if I can tone that down per Kalin's suggestion without messing up those cool little sun rays this may be a winner. I am also going to dodge the middle ground grass a bit and maby the trees to balance the light and that might help offset the bright sun. I will put 'em up on my Smuggy site when I get 'em done. This was a family vacation so there were no sunrise ops. Going back in the fall.

Combine Todd's and Kalin's comments, and that's where I am. It's really nice to see a different take on this location. The rays and reflection do a lot for this. I think it's stronger if you can reign in the sun a little, but very nice as is, too.

Ok, I did some tweaks, lightened the mid ground a tad and since the sun area is totaly devoid of any detail borrowed some neighboring cloud pixels to fill in a bit. Better?

How late did you stay John? With a sky like that I would be hoping for some nice color later.

I agree with everybody above, a nice job with a different perspective.

Thanks,Don!
John Z - This shot was t 6:30 and I made the last shot form this spot at 7:00p.m. I had hungry family patiently waiting in the car and we had to get back to Colter Bay Camp ground on the camp grounds schedule before they closed the showers. If it were just me I would have stayed til long after dark or maybe even til sun up!
