Evaluating Printer Profiles

I've been reprofiling my printer with various papers and experimenting with different targets, rendering intents, etc.

One of the challenges is trying to compare one profile to another. Comparing them in ColorThink or something similar doesn't tell you how a print will look.

I came across a reference to this article in a LL post. I have used Bill Atkinson's image before but this article details what each element of the test image is used for and how one person uses it. I haven't put this to practice yet but thought others here would be interested.

Sorry if this is old news!

Interesting. I used the image used in this article and followed the evaluation points mentioned and immediately found a minor flaw in a new profile I'd recently made. In a small range of grays it has a lime (blue-green) cast. The gray looks brown. I could verify it with the spectro.

Some aspects of the test images I'd regularly looked at, others this article helped me think about differently. Hope it helps someone else too.
